Sorcerer Lodge Trip Information

Getting to Golden, BC    We will meet at the Kicking Horse River Lodge in Golden, BC at 8:00 pm Mountain Time on Friday. This is the day before you fly in to Sorcerer. Golden is 3 1⁄2 hours west of Calgary on the Trans Canada Highway.

There is a shuttle from the Calgary Airport to Golden operated by the Pure Travel Group.  For information visit their website at:

The cheapest option is often to rent a car in Calgary, especially if you are traveling with 2 or more people.  If you would like to carpool with others in your group, please contact us or call us at (403) 678-0929 for an email list for your group.

If a large contingent of your group is arriving by air to Calgary, AB, we can help you arrange ground transportation from Calgary to Golden.  This works best if everybody stays at the same hotel, or meets at the same hotel in Calgary.  If you would like to look in to this option, please contact us  or call us at (403) 678-0929.

Drivers should be at the Kicking Horse Mountain Lodge phone (250) 439-1112 no later than 8:00 PM Mountain Time on Friday.  There is a parking lot where you can leave your vehicles for the week.

Flying in to Sorcerer Lodge    On Friday evening, the group will meet Tannis, the owner of Sorcerer Lodge, to go over general information and to sign the waivers. You will sign the waivers before you fly in to the lodge. Please ensure that you have received copies of the waivers via email so that you can read them prior to signing them. You do not need to print copies of the waivers, we will have copies available to sign at Kicking Horse River Lodge. On Saturday morning, the group will meet for breakfast at the Kicking Horse River Lodge at 6:00 am Mountain Time. The breakfast is not included in the cost of your trip. You should have your luggage packed and be dressed to fly in to the lodge. After breakfast we will load up the van and drive to the staging area at Heather Mountain Lodge west of Golden. At the staging area you will have a short safety briefing about the helicopter, then the flights will begin.

Luggage    Space is limited on the helicopter. Please limit your luggage to 30lbs. If you have a large ski bag we might have to unpack it to fit everything in the ski basket. The ski bags can be left at the hotel until the end of the trip. Small bags are better than large ones because they are easier to pack in the helicopter. Do not bring suitcases or duffel bags with a built in rigid frame.

Alcohol    There is no liquor license at the lodge. Please bring your own liquor for the week and make sure you have enough.  The liquor store is a long way away.  Please bring canned beer, it is lighter than bottled beer.

The end of the trip    You should be back at the Kicking Horse River Lodge the following Saturday by 11:00 am Mountain Time. This is weather dependent. It is possible to get stuck at Sorcerer Lodge due to poor weather but it is very rare.
