Valhalla Mountain Touring

VMT is located in the heart of the Selkirk Mountains, just north of Valhalla Provincial Park.  It boasts 80km2 of alpine bowls, glades and chutes.  The lodge is ideally located so that you can venture someplace new every day of your trip. The peaks and ridges soar to 2500m providing for continuous descents of over 800m back down to the lodge at 1720m. Intermediate and expert skiers and boarders will find plenty of terrain to keep busy.

The Lodge

  • 2200 sq ft post and beam lodge
  • 7 private bedrooms, all have double beds, and most have at least 1 to 2 single beds to offer a variety of guest configurations. Linens, down duvets and pillows are provided.
  • an indoor flush toilet
  • a spacious living area complete with a large dining table, leather sofas, a pumping stereo, a fully equipped kitchen, standard electricity that operates 24 hours a day, wireless internet, running hot and cold water.
  • separate sauna building
  • sleeps 12 guests

The Terrain

VMT is in the heart of the Selkirk snow belt, so we experience frequent stormy days. Lucky for us 400m to 600m tree runs surround the lodge on all aspects. Intermediate to advanced skiers will find mellow glades to 40 degree pillow romps through mature timber.

The alpine terrain in the North Valhallas is truly spectacular. Places like Shannon Lake, Caribou Ridge, Grizzly Meadows, Rugged Peak and Big Sister Mountain offer alpine runs that average 600 vertical meters. Many of these runs are also north facing, providing the driest powder snow of your life.

Ski days range from 1300 to 2000 vertical meters (4,000 to 7,000 vertical feet), and there are always options for shorter or longer days depending on guests skill and energy level.
