We Still have Backcountry Ski Trips Available for the 2011 Season

I know its the middle of summer but I think it is still a good time to think about skiing this winter.  There is actually still quite a bit of snow up in the mountains for this time of year.  Maybe it will be a good summer for the glaciers.  If they don't melt at the same rate they have been melting in the last few years, the snow bridges might be well formed this winter which would open up a few more lines.  Its going to be a great winter for skiing.

We have spaces available on the following trips:

Conquering Columbia - The Columbia Icefield: A Glacial Journey

Ian Brown - the Globe and Mail

From Saturday's Globe and Mail

Let us begin with two facts that anyone who wishes to ski up onto the Columbia Icefield, halfway between Banff and Jasper, might want to remember.

Zanskar

by Olivia Sofer published in the Blizzard Spring 2010

In January 1995, four British geology students skied into the Himalayan region of Zanskar near Ladakh, India on a research expedition. Discussions with local Zanskaris developed into a collective dream - to cre- ate a cross-country ski school in Zanskar. The mis- sion of the ski school is to provide communication, transportation, rescue and job opportunities for the people of the Zanskar Himalaya through skiing.
